There’s a reason Valentine’s Day falls smack-dab in the middle of winter. Sparkling snow, snuggling by a fire, sipping hot toddies and playing footsies on a bearskin rug – what could be more romantic? Winter is for lovers and, as such, ski chalets make for the perfect Valentine’s getaways. In honour of all things love and snow we’ve compiled a list of the most romantic ski destinations in Canada.

Bell 2 Lodge, Last Frontier Heli Skiing
What’s the point in having a blog if you can’t include yourself on our own list of most romantic ski destinations? Sure, we may be biased, but that doesn’t mean we’re wrong. Case in point: the recent engagement of guests Zach Hurt and Sandra Rosset during their holiday at our remote lodge, Bell 2. Heli skiing is the ultimate backcountry adventure and we all know that couples who play together, stay together, so it’s no surprise that many a pair have taken the leap and said yes atop one of the mountains in our tenure.

Revelstoke, BC
If you think a combination of resort, touring, heli and cat skiing in one of North America’s premiere snowpacks is sexy, Revelstoke is the romantic getaway for you. The historic small town is nestled amid the Selkirk and Monashee Mountains and offers jaw-dropping panoramas and adrenaline fuelled adventure opportunities at every turn. This place is not for the faint of heart, but it is most certainly guaranteed to get your heart pounding in all the right ways.

Banff, AB
It’s no secret that Canada’s original National Park is iconic and a popular adventure tourism destination year-round. In terms of ski vacations, it’s an obvious choice in proximity to seemingly unlimited options for world-class alpine and nordic terrain. What makes it particularly romantic, however, is the undeniable grandeur and allure of the Banff Springs Hotel that literally towers above the Bow River Valley and houses one of the most luxurious spas in all the land. If hot springs and fondue and couple’s massage doesn’t epitomize romance, we’re all doing it wrong.

The Chic Chocs, Québec
Deep in the heart of La Belle Province lies one of the prettiest ski touring and backcountry destinations in all of Eastern Canada. The Chic Chocs are part of the Appalachian Mountains, which peer upon the incredible Gaspé Peninsula and Québec’s Eastern Townships. Think seaside B&Bs, quaint cafés and more maple syrup than you could ever hope to consume. The mountains are mellow by most standards, but they are stunning and so very accessible leaving plenty of time and energy for the après ski…. if you know what I mean. After all, French is the language of love, right? Oui!
