Reflecting on an Epic Season at Last Frontier Heli

With 29 years of heli skiing under our belt there is a tendency for winters to blend into one another. It’s easy to take for granted all the moving parts that have to come together to operate a successful heliski season. We are grateful to have an incredibly dedicated team working with us to make the magic happen season after season. Everyone works together with a common mission of delivering an outstanding experience for our guests.

Our customers travel from far and wide and that they have a lot of choice when it comes to selecting their ultimate heliski destination. This winter we welcomed guests from 34 countries on five continents. Thank you to all those that made the pilgrimage to the far North of British Columbia.

Top Highlights from the 2025 Season

We operated from late December through to April 17th with near record guest numbers at Bell 2 Lodge and Ripley Creek, delivering one of our most memorable BC heli skiing seasons to date.

January experienced the most new snow with 278cm [110″] of fresh powder at Bell 2 Lodge and 242cm [95″] at Ripley Creek.

Our guests were treated to spectacular Northern Lights at Bell 2 Lodge right after New Year’s.

As is typically the case, we had the largest vertical week in late March. Our guests logged more than 57,600 vertical meters of skiing [189,000 vertical feet] during a 5 day window.

For the season as a whole, our guests averaged 40,000 vertical meters [130,000 vertical feet] of skiing/riding per week — an impressive stat for any heli skiing Canada experience.

Ripley Creek had zero no-skiing days during the month of March.

On average, we experienced 0.9 down days per week for the duration of the 2025 heliski season. This is in line with our long-term average of less than one down day per week.

Our Heligrass live music week celebrated its 5th anniversary with a 5 day event from March 23 – March 28th at Ripley Creek. If you enjoy deep powder skiing and acoustic music, there’s still space during our 2026 Heligrass Tour at Bell 2 Lodge where you can experience some of British Columbia’s most remote heli skiing terrain.

Thrilling Runs, Top-Notch Crew, and Epic Views
Our heli-skiing adventure with Last Frontier Heliskiing was nothing short of spectacular! From start to finish, the experience was impeccably organized, with a team that went above and beyond to ensure we had an unforgettable time. While we didn’t find the deep powder we’d hoped for, the breathtaking scenery, clear weather, and the team’s tireless efforts to track down the best snow made every run thrilling.

What stood out most was the professionalism and care. The team’s expertise in studying the terrain, monitoring snow conditions, and prioritizing safety gave us complete confidence. Their knowledge of avalanche prevention was impressive and added a layer of trust to the adventure. On the ground, everything ran smoothly, and the warm, friendly atmosphere made us feel right at home.

A special highlight was dining with Mike, the owner, who was genuinely interested in our feedback and passionate about creating a top-notch experience. The entire staff’s dedication and hospitality elevated this trip to something truly memorable. If you’re looking for world-class heli-skiing with incredible views and a team that feels like family, Last Frontier is the place to go. We’re already dreaming of returning!

Just an absolute amazing experience.
Had an absolute blast with Last Frontier. Starting with our pick up in Terrace the whole experience was smooth, professional and elevated most anywhere possible. Loved the small groups of 4 guests, fast laps, great food, engaging guides and all the other staff. Very personable, catered to our needs and were attentive to all of the input and suggestions we had. Great meals, awesome accommodations and never a dull moment. I can only say great things about Last Frontier and their crew. Just amazing.

Take me back!
UNREAL! Greatest snowboarding of my life. Everything here is top shelf. From the moment you get off the plane in Terrace everything is taken care of for you. All you have to think about is the powder. Food is so good. Rooms are amazing. Cant wait to come back! 10/10

Looking Ahead to 2026

2026 marks Last Frontier Heliskiing’s 30th Anniversary and our team is stoked about this milestone birthday. As the first operator to lay claim to the single largest heli skiing operation in Northern British Columbia, we have seen firsthand the many changes in the industry. However, at a core the mission remains the same: to deliver an exceptional customer focused heli skiing experience.

This summer our crew on the ground has been busy further improving our tree skiing experience near Bell 2 Lodge. We will provide a full update on that program in our September news release. At our little heliski village, additional maintenance investments are being made to keep our facilities in great shape.

Stay tuned for our special 30-year anniversary content launching this fall.
