Heli Skiing Accommodation in British Columbia – Our Heli Ski Lodges

February 14, 2012 Last Frontier Heliskiing

Come and stay with us at Last Frontier and you will not only be treated to world class heli skiing, but also live in rustic luxury for the duration of your stay. Canada is famous for its welcoming hospitality, and the accommodation in British Columbia, in particular our heli ski lodges, is no exception.

We have two operations here in BC. Bell 2 Lodge in the Skeena Mountains, and Ripley Creek Inn in Stewart. Here is a brief summary of the two lodges and the kind of experiences you will encounter at each.

Bell 2 Lodge
Started in 1996, Bell 2 Lodge now occupies the space once used as a basic service station for travelers who were on their way to Alaska and the Yukon. This is a beautifully untouched and isolated area of British Columbia, true Canadian wilderness territory. Sleeping a maximum of 30 clients per week, and located 1900ft (600 meters) above sea level, Bell 2 Lodge is now a modern heliski village. Satellite communications and state of the art environmental facilities sit side by side with all the comforts of a first-class hotel, with just a touch of the rustic.

Luxurious log cabins, all containing fireplaces, private bathrooms and either two queen-size beds or one king-size bed (plus down duvets) are scattered approximately 100 meters away from the main lodge. Here you’ll find the lounge, bar and dining room – the hub in which après skiing stories are swapped and delicious food is served. Offering everything that you may want from your heliski trip, Bell 2 Lodge is a firm favorite with many of our returnees who like to ski hard, but also relax in style.

Ripley Creek Inn
Ripley Creek Inn is the smaller of our two operations, accommodating up to 15 guests each week. However, for special groups, we will endeavor to accommodate up to 20 people. Based in the small, old mining town of Stewart, you will get a feel for a life lived deep within the mountains. On the border of Alaska, it would be an understatement to describe the terrain accessed from this location as exciting; it’s fantastic!

Although not quite as luxurious as the cabins at Bell 2 Lodge, the accommodation here also all come with en-suite bathrooms, queen-sized beds with the down duvets, and telephones and TV’s. Seasoned staff members also call this their home all winter long, and are always on hand for information, or just a chat about skiing.

Food is provided by the Bitter Creek Café, and will have something to entice even the most ardent foodie. We highly recommend the seafood, but anything chosen from the bistro-style menu will not only re-energize you for your next day’s heli skiing, but also taste great.

With plenty of non-heli skiing activities on offer as well, Ripley Creek Inn would make an ideal base for partners who are not as ski-focused as the rest of us. With a charming character, and real Canadian mountain town feel, it’s impossible not to fall in love with the place.
