Heli Skiing Vancouver: Highlights
Vancouver, arguably Canada’s coolest city, has something to offer everyone, and is the perfect destination to spend some time, pre or prior to your heli skiing adventure in northern BC.
It’s situated in the lower reaches of British Columbia, a coastal seaport city boasting a residential city population of over 600,000 people. Ethnically, culturally and linguistically diverse, over half of its residents do not regard English as their first language. This makes for exciting mix of eateries and entertainments – a stay here could really complement your stay with us at Last Frontier.
Encapsulating a wealth of history, Vancouver has been the centre of attention for many reasons over the years. If you’re into your unique history then look no further than this city as it’s ripe for exploring, with all its quirky aspects.
For example, you probably never knew that Vancouver used to be home to the largest neon company in the whole world, and that during the 1950’s the whole city was alight with blazing color, it’s only rival at the time being Shanghai. Look closely and you may even see some surviving signs from the times; look out for the Ovaltine Café or Save on Meats.
If you’re more interested in food than trivial history, then you’ll be delighted to know that 12 new food carts will be joining the streets of Vancouver from this May. That’s over a hundred in total to choose from throughout the city. New entries to look out for include the conspicuous pink “Pig on the street” van, serving up delicious bacon rolls of all varieties, or the Salvadoran “Guanaco Truck” with its national dish, pupusas stuffed with cheese, beans and pork.
For something more civilized and altogether more memorable, get to Vancouver quickly before the 8th of April to sample the Easter Brunch. A long loved tradition of Vancouverites, it’s the perfect chance to hang out with friends and family over a sumptuous meal. If you’re not too late, book in at the Rosewood Hotel, Georgia, for one of the top unmissable events of 2012. An Easter Brunch extravaganza of eggs Benedict, braised short ribs and hot cross buns, all under the theme of 1920’s prohibition, accompanied by a live trio performing Ragtime and Jazz.
If you’re looking for a little added adventure on top of your heli skiing trip, well, then Vancouver is the perfect place for it. Nestled between the ocean and the mountains, Vancouver has an ‘outdoorsy’ population, and there are an abundance of activities to keep all entertained.
From luxury golf courses and countless watersports, to miles upon miles of running and cycling tracks, there is definitely something for everyone here. So if you were to stay longer, you’d easily be able to finish your heli ski holiday and move on to a multi-trip that anyone can enjoy.
