The closure of international borders continues to wreak havoc on tourism businesses worldwide. The good news is that for one reason or another British Columbia has avoided any major COVID-19 outbreaks to date. But with that comes the uncertainty of what this winter will bring. The heli skiing market has traditionally focused on out-of-country visitors, as has the cat-skiing market to a lesser degree.

At this point, the government is unable/unwilling to speculate as to whether the borders are likely to open or not. In the absence of any clear advice or information from anyone, we were left with no choice but to consult our Psychic Department.

After filling the office with incense, dimming the lights and selecting the right moon cycle, we sat down for a solid tarot, tea leaf and palm reading session. The message from all three mediums was clear: Go Heli Skiing. 

In the spirit of keeping it simple [and avoiding the ‘postpone everything until 2022’ option], we see two scenarios:

Scenario 1: If the borders remain closed to international travel we will be unable to host our existing international customers this winter. We still want to go skiing and will plan to open Bell 2 Lodge during our prime weeks (February and March) for Canadian guests only at a 50% discount. O Canada – it doesn’t get any better than this.

Once an announcement is made as to whether borders will be open, we will make a plan. If you don’t like the plan, you receive your money back.

Yes – it’s vague but there’s no risk for you and it gives you (what we hope is only) a once in a lifetime opportunity of a heliski trip at this price. Given that our operating capacity is likely to be reduced lower than usual, we think that the 24 to 36 seats per week at Bell 2 Lodge will be spoken for quickly.
