En 1996, los socios fundadores George Rosset, Franz Fux, Mike Watling y Geoff Straight empezaron con los intentos de explorar las desconocidas cadenas montañosas del Norte de la Columbia Británica en Canadá haciendo primeros descensos en lo que se convertiría en Last Frontier Heliskiing.

Esta pasión por explorar y por la aventura la llevamos en nuestro ADN. Todo lo que hacemos en Last Frontier gira en torno de las montañas y a nuestro viaje de perseguir nieve.

En este lugar salvaje arriba en las montañas, lejos del mundanal ruido, de la rutina y repetición, nuestra familia está dedicada al oficio de producir una experiencia de heli-esquí especial para nuestros huéspedes porque apenas hay nada igual.

La Historia

  • Exploración inicial & Viabilidad
    1994

    Bell 2 Lodge fue descubierto en el corazón de las Montañas Skeena en el Norte de la Columbia Británica. Los socios fundadores George Rosset, Franz Fux, Mike Watling y Geoff Straight están fascinados del potencial del heli-esquí y empiezan a explorar la zona.

  • Los primeros descensos
    1996

    Last Frontier inicia una temporada de 8 semanas de heli-esquí de exploración utilizando un solo helicóptero A-Star con base en Bell 2 Lodge. Teton Gravity Research (TGR) aprovechan la oportunidad de visitar esta parte del mundo todavía por descubrir. Apareciendo en su película Re: “Session”.

  • El nacimiento de un pueblecito de heliski.
    1997-2003

    Una completa reconstrucción empezó para transformar Bell 2 Lodge en un pueblecito de heliski.

  • Una segunda casa
    2005

    Ripley Creek nace en la pequeña comunidad de Stewart, enfrente de Hyder, Alaska. Los Jefes de Guías George Feitzinger y Andre Ike exploran la zona estableciendo una nueva área de heli-esquí al completo, sondeando a fondo las Montañas Costeras.

    2008

    Last Frontier se convierte en uno de los primeros operadores de la industria del heli-esquí en adoptar el uso obligatorio de “Airbags” para avalanchas para todos los huéspedes.

  • Expansión
    2010

    Un tercer helicóptero es añadido en Bell 2 Lodge, permitiendo mayor flexibilidad para grupos privados. La capacidad se eleva a 34 huéspedes.

  • Rejuvenecimiento
    2013

    Se completan las renovaciones para modernizar las zonas comunes en Bell 2 Lodge. El comedor y la recepción / tienda de regalos ven un buen cambio de cara.

  • El principio de un nuevo capítulo
    2014

    Los socios fundadores George Rosset y Franz Fux venden su parte en Last Frontier Heliskiing. Franz continua como guía y George es sucedido por Mike Watling en la posición de Socio Director.

    2015

    Last Frontier Heliskiing celebra su 20º aniversario.

  • Grupos más pequeños de 4
    2017

    Los grupos de 5 eran geniales, pero los grupos de 4 son todavía mejor. Podemos cargar más fuel en el helicóptero y así poder adentrarnos en nuestra enorme área de heli-esquí. Ahora tenemos 1 guía por cada 4 huéspedes en vez de 5 - también mejor.

    2017

    El Bar, la zona de entretenimiento y la Sala de TV y música ven una completa remodelación en Bell 2 Lodge. Al Bar en Ripley Creek también se le lava la cara.

  • Nuevo edificio de saunas
    2022

    Una revisión completa de nuestro edificio de sauna que alberga nuestras salas de masajes, clases de estiramiento y sauna seca.

  • Renovación de habitaciones y nueva cafetería
    2023

    Nuestras habitaciones renovadas cuentan con baños nuevos, pisos de baldosas con calefacción, aislamiento acústico adicional e iluminación completamente renovada. Las queridas estufas de leña de esteatita permanecen. Nuestra cafetería también sufrió una transformación total.

Bell 2 Lodge is seeking a year-round Lodge Manager to oversee the daily resort operations located in Northern BC.

In the winter we operate as Last Frontier Heliskiing, providing world class dining and lodging to heliskiers from everywhere around the globe. During the rest of the year, the resort offers Hotel, Restaurant and Gas Station services to road guests and contractors.

The Lodge Manager, reporting to the General Manager, is responsible for the safe, guest orientated and economical day to day operations of the lodge. Assumes complete responsibility of daily lodge operations. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and HR skills, strong problem-solving abilities, be a strong leader, and have a passion for providing exceptional customer service.

This position is for someone who wants to be invested with us for minimum 2 years.

  • Communicate effectively internally and externally, with guests, management, and employees
  • Supervision and delegation of duties to staff (all lodge departments)
  • Friendly personality and genuine desire to host and craft an exceptional experience for our guests, no matter how long or short their visit

  • Excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task, and attention to detail
  • Able to take direction, work independently, and as a part of a team
  • Record inventory accurately, and take ownership of all supplies ordering, always planning ahead due to our remote location and limited delivery options
  • Responsible for all guest and staff billing. Including expenses made with float, company credit cards and/or on company accounts
  • Ensure Daily, Weekly and Monthly reports: accounts, inventories, time sheets and reconciliations are accurate and completed on time
  • Manages and explains all financial activities with reconciliations
  • Implement policies and procedures with a high standard of excellence on a regular basis
  • Maintain a professional, punctual, well groomed, and presentable appearance
  • Implementations of training to ensure high standards are maintained
  • Ensure all Lodge Operations meet or exceed Work Safe BC Standards
  • Extensively involved in guest management, hosting and dealing with complaints in an efficient and appropriate manner
  • Coordinate logistics of getting things in a time sensitive manner to and from the remote lodge
  • Maintain positive communication with Ski Ops, Suppliers, Hotel providers, Head Office, guests and all lodge employees
  • Responsible for all stock (inventory), floor management and sales
  • Demonstrate sound financial acumen by adhering to effective stock management and financial administration processes
  • In charge of reservations, billing, overall lodge accounting
  • Work closely with the Bell 2 Guiding Managers, who report to the Director of Ski Operations
  • Work closely with Head Office team to ensure consistent quality of service is provided to Heliski guests
  • Be available to guests. This will include dining, greeting and checking in with them. You are their main contact regarding all things Lodge related during their Heliskiing vacation
  • Familiar with all procedures related to the skiing programAbility to act as sales representative for Last Frontier Heliskiing and Bell 2 Lodge when opportunity presents itself

Requirements:

  • 2+ years in similar position in a remote Lodge
  • Background in luxury hospitality or fine dining
  • Hospitality/Tourism, Management or Business degree an asset
  • Strong administration skills
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of Microsoft Office and Google Suite, including Excel, Outlook and Word
  • Experience with troubleshooting front and back end of PMS and POS systems
  • Knowledge of Push Payroll system for scheduling, hiring documents and payroll an asset
  • Multiple languages are considered an asset
  • Serving it Right required (or ability and willingness to obtain)
  • Food Safe Certificate an asset
  • First Aid an asset
  • Valid Drivers license required
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs when necessary
  • Must be able to effectively prioritise a significant workload, whilst managing competing business demands

Accommodation and meals are provided for all employees while on rotation. Shifts are three weeks on and one week off working ten-hour days. Transfers to and from Terrace on weeks out are available. Flights are not provided.

In winter, subsidized accommodation in Smithers & ski tickets are possible for your week off.

Bell 2 Lodge is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Housekeeper for our Remote Resort in Northern BC.

The ideal candidate will be an energetic team player, with a positive attitude and proven flexible approach. The position could be for the summer only OR year around.

Housekeepers provide cleaning service to all lodge accommodations and common areas daily. Our lodge is not a typical hotel, as it is fully self-sustaining and includes chalets with individual rooms in a remote location. Housekeepers are responsible for cleaning the guest chalets, main lodge and sauna building while doing laundry and inventory of supplies.

Excellent attention to detail and following procedures is paramount in this role. Maintenance and cleanliness play an important part in the services we provide to our guests and must be maintained at the highest standards.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Reporting to the Lodge Manager, preferred skills and core competencies are:
  • Energetic and upbeat, with the ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Able to communicate effectively with management and co-workers
  • Friendly personality with a genuine desire to help and please others
  • Take pride in doing the job well and with a keen eye for detail
  • Able to perform the same tasks repeatedly with satisfaction
  • A positive attitude and flexible approach
  • Be physically fit to fulfill this position, including reaching and bending to clean, as well as climbing stairs
  • Able to perform heavy lifting when necessary
  • Passion for working with people and the outdoors is an asset

Requirements:

  • A minimum 2 years of housekeeping experience in a resort/luxury hotel setting
  • Must be legally entitled to live & work in Canada

Last Frontier Heliskiing has been a pioneering force in heliskiing and heli boarding since 1996. We offer a range of heliski tours from two unique lodging experiences in Northern British Columbia. The Ski Guide is responsible for his or her helicopter group within a 3-group ski program. This position involves supporting the Lead Guide to ensure that the ski program flows as planned to ensure a safe, enjoyable skiing experience for the guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe and enjoyable day of heliskiing for Last Frontier Guests.
  • Assist with the lead guides plan and execute the days skiing program for the assigned helicopter.
  • Follow the lead guides run choice at all times, whenever practical.
  • Ensure run list is adhered to as per Last Frontier Heliskiing policy.
  • Load Lunch and water on board helicopter for the day.
  • Attend and participate at all guide meetings.
  • Actively participate with down day activities.
  • Assist with vertical reports and flight time entries.
  • Ensure season profiles and snow safety records are up to date.
  • Prepare weather briefings on a rotation basis.
  • Ensure all assigned tasks are completed.
  • Help brief guests with beacons and helicopters.
  • Assist in ski shop when required.
  • Assist in transporting luggage etc. on transfer days.
  • Adhere to Last Frontier Heliskiing risk management protocols.
  • Adhere to Last Frontier Heliskiing wildlife mitigation policies.
  • Dine with Guests during dinner time.

Skills Required:

  • Applicants must be certified through one of the following associations:
    • Ski / Mountain Guide – Association of Canadian Mountain Guides
    • Ski Guide – Canadian Ski Guide Association
    • Mountain Guide – International Federation of Mountain Guides Association

Full-time, Fixed term contract

Expected start date: December 16, 2023 / Expected end date: April 13, 2024

Salary: $47.50 per hour
