1996 brachen die Gründungspartner George Rosset, Franz Fux, Mike Watling und Geoff Straight auf, um bisher unerforschte Bergketten im Norden Britisch-Kolumbiens zu erkunden, und erste Abfahrten in dem Gebiet zu machen, das später zu „Last Frontier Heliskiing“ werden sollte.

Die Leidenschaft für solche Erkundungen und Abenteuer lebt noch heute in unserer DNA weiter. Bei Last Frontier dreht sich alles um Berge und die Suche nach Pulverschnee.

    1994

    Bell 2 Lodge wird im Herzen der Skeena Mountains im Norden von British Columbia entdeckt. Die Gründungspartner George Rosset, Franz Fux, Mike Watling und Geoff Straight sind von dem Potenzial der Gegend fasziniert und beginnen Ihre Erkundungen.

    Last Frontier initiiert, von der Bell2 Lodge aus, eine achtwöchige Probe-Heliski-Saison mit einem einzigen A-Star-Hubschrauber. Teton Gravity Research (TGR) nutzen die Gelegenheit, diesen unentdeckten Teil der Welt zu besuchen. Featured in ihrem Film Re: Session.

  • Die Geburt eines Heliski-Dorfes
    1997-2003

    Um die Bell 2 Lodge in ein Heliski-Dorf zu verwandeln, wird mit einer groβangelegten Umbauphase begonnen.

  • Ein zweites Zuhause
    2005

    Ripley Creek wird in der kleinen Gemeinde Stewart, gegenüber von Hyder, Alaska ins Leben gerufen. Die Bergführer George Feitzinger und Andre Ike erkunden das Gebiet, und erschaffen somit ein neues Heliskiing-Gebiet, das tief in die Coast Mountains eindringt.

    2008

    Last Frontier ist einer der ersten Betreiber in der Heliski-Industrie, der das Tragen eines ABS Rucksacks für alle Gäste zur Pflicht macht.

    2010

    Ein dritter Hubschrauber wird dem Programm der Bell 2 Lodge hinzugefügt. Dies ermöglicht mehr Flexibilität für private Gruppen. Die Kapazität steigt auf 34 Gäste.

    2013

    Modernisierung der Hauptlodge. Der Speisesaal, die Lobby und der Souvenirshop werden neu gestaltet.

  • Der Beginn eines neuen Kapitels
    2014

    Gründungspartner George Rosset und Franz Fux verkaufen ihre Anteile. Franz bleibt dem Bergführer-Team weiter erhalten und George wird von Mike Watling als geschäftsführender Teilhaber abgelöst.

    Last Frontier Heliskiing feiert seinen 20. Geburtstag.

    Kompletter Umbau der Bar und des Entertainment-Bereichs der Bell 2 Lodge. Auch der Bar-Bereich von Ripley Creek wird erneuert.

    Eine komplette Überholung unseres Wellnessbereichs inklusive Trockensauna, Massageräume und Stretching Bereich.

  • Renovierung der Gästezimmer und des Cafés
    2023

    Die neuen Gästezimmer verfügen über verbesserte Lärmdämmung, komplett renovierte Badezimmer, ausgestattet mit Fußbodenheizung und neuer Beleuchtung. Die beliebten Speckstein-Holzöfen bleiben erhalten. Auch unser Café haben wir komplett überholt.

Job Summary

As the Sous Chef, you will play a key leadership role within the kitchen team, assisting the Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations while helping maintain high culinary standards, efficient service, and a positive team environment. This is a hands-on position requiring strong cooking ability, leadership skills, organization, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced remote lodge environment.

You will work closely with the Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations including food preparation, breakfast buffet service, café production, staff meals, inventory management, ordering, and kitchen organization. In the absence of the Chef, you will be responsible for leading the kitchen team and ensuring all operations continue smoothly and efficiently.

This position spans two distinct seasonal operations. During the summer season, Bell 2 Lodge operates as a hotel, café, and roadside destination serving transient tourists, mining industry clients, contractors, and lodge guests. During the winter season, the operation transitions to Last Frontier Heliskiing, delivering a high-end, all-inclusive lodge experience focused on exceptional food quality and guest satisfaction.

This role requires a strong work ethic, professionalism, flexibility, creativity, and the ability to consistently produce high-quality food in a demanding remote environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality, takes pride in delivering memorable dining experiences, and thrives as part of a close-knit team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chef in overseeing all daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient workflow, organization, cleanliness, and consistency throughout service
  • Lead kitchen operations in the absence of the Chef, ensuring all meals are prepared and executed to company standards
  • Oversee daily breakfast buffet preparation and execution, ensuring quality, presentation, and timely service
  • Assist with preparation and execution of café menu items including sandwiches, soups, baked goods, grab-and-go items, and specialty offerings
  • Prepare high-quality staff meals and contractor meal plan meals while maintaining consistency and efficiency
  • Ensure all food preparation and presentation consistently meets company standards and guest expectations
  • Assist with menu development and contribute creative ideas for seasonal features, specials, desserts, and café offerings
  • Demonstrate strong understanding and management of food cost, portion control, waste reduction, and product utilization
  • Participate in inventory management, stock rotation, receiving, ordering, and maintaining accurate inventory levels
  • Maintain proper food storage, labeling, sanitation, and kitchen safety standards in accordance with Food Safe requirements
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment, workstations, and storage areas are maintained in a clean, organized, and operational condition
  • Support onboarding, training, coaching, and development of kitchen staff while promoting teamwork and professionalism
  • Assist with scheduling, task delegation, and maintaining efficient communication within the kitchen team
  • Cater to guest allergies and dietary restrictions with strong product knowledge and careful attention to detail
  • Work collaboratively with front-of-house staff and lodge management to ensure a seamless guest dining experience
  • Maintain composure, professionalism, and efficiency during busy service periods and changing operational demands
  • Assist with unloading deliveries and perform heavy lifting as required
  • Maintain a professional, well-groomed, and presentable appearance at all times
  • Familiarize yourself with the Last Frontier Heliskiing Incident Response Plan and participate in operational safety procedures during the winter season
  • All other duties as assigned to support the operation

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years previous experience in a similar culinary leadership role required
  • Previous experience in a heliskiing lodge, fishing lodge, remote resort, luxury hospitality, fine dining, or modern casual fine dining environment strongly preferred
  • Strong culinary skills with the ability to consistently produce high-quality food in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of food cost management, inventory control, portioning, and waste reduction
  • Ability to lead and motivate a small kitchen team while maintaining a positive and professional work environment
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Ability to multitask and adapt effectively to changing operational priorities and guest demands
  • Strong understanding of dietary restrictions, allergies, and alternative food preparation requirements
  • Food Safe Certificate required
  • First Aid certification considered an asset
  • Physically fit and capable of performing heavy lifting and physically demanding work
  • Previous experience living and working in a remote lodge environment considered a strong asset
  • Passion for outdoor lifestyles and mountain environments is welcomed
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit live-in team environment
  • Ability to appropriately balance work and social life in a remote live-in environment

Working Conditions

This is a year-round, live-on-site position based in remote Northern BC. Standard work rotations are on a 3-week on, 1-week off schedule, working 10 hours per day whilst on rotation.

Lodging and all meals are provided whilst on rotation. Employees are required to vacate the lodge during scheduled time off. Transportation between the lodge and Terrace is provided for scheduled rotation changes. During the heliskiing season, alternative transport to Smithers can also be provided, where subsidized accommodation for your scheduled time off is available (winter only).

Flights are the responsibility of the employee, however a company Travel Policy is in place which provides partial flight coverage based on years of service and position within the company.

Job Summary

Bell 2 Lodge is seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Assistant Maintenance Manager to support the operation and long-term upkeep of the lodge’s facilities, infrastructure, vehicles, utilities, and equipment.

Working closely with the Maintenance Manager, this role is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operation of the Maintenance Department, ensuring that all systems are maintained safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. The Assistant Maintenance Manager helps oversee preventive maintenance programs, coordinates repairs and projects, supervises maintenance staff, and supports ongoing improvements to the property and guest experience.

This position requires a strong technical background, excellent organizational and leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively in a remote mountain lodge environment. During periods when the Maintenance Manager is off-site, the Assistant Maintenance Manager assumes full departmental leadership and operational responsibility.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Department Operations & Leadership

  • Assist with scheduling, training, supervising, and motivating Maintenance Department team members
  • Support the organization and coordination of daily departmental operations and workloads
  • Delegate tasks appropriately based on team members‘ skills and experience
  • Maintain clear communication with Lodge Management regarding operational priorities, maintenance issues, staffing concerns, and project updates
  • Assume responsibility for the Maintenance Department during the absence of the Maintenance Manager
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and productive work environment within the department
  • Report HR-related matters involving maintenance staff to Lodge Management

Facility & Infrastructure Maintenance

  • Assist in planning and prioritizing maintenance and repair activities for all lodge facilities, infrastructure, utilities, and equipment
  • Prioritize critical systems including power, water, sewage, internet, safety systems, and overall property aesthetics
  • Perform and oversee preventative maintenance in accordance with the Preventative Maintenance Schedule (PMS)
  • Respond promptly to maintenance issues and emergency situations
  • Identify and report additional repair requirements or safety concerns to Lodge Management
  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarms, emergency systems, and related safety equipment
  • Ensure all workshop tools and equipment are maintained in safe working condition
  • Conduct regular inspections of workshop equipment and lodge infrastructure
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records and logs

Vehicles, Equipment & Inventory

  • Ensure all vehicles are clean, fueled, inspected, and properly maintained
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of tools, parts, supplies, and maintenance materials
  • Support cost-effective purchasing practices, including obtaining competitive quotes when appropriate
  • Ensure maintenance equipment and tools are used safely and responsibly
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining workshop and storage areas

Safety & Compliance

  • Implement and enforce departmental safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure all maintenance staff consistently follow safe work practices and protocols
  • Maintain familiarity with lodge emergency and rescue procedures
  • Carry a radio at all times while on duty and ensure proper use and care of communication equipment
  • Operate in compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and Northern Health requirements
  • Support a strong culture of workplace safety throughout the lodge

Lodge Operations Support

  • Collaborate with Lodge Management and other departments on projects and operational tasks affecting guests, staff, and lodge operations
  • Oversee the weekly lodge transfer to ensure it is completed safely, efficiently, and productively
  • Provide professional, timely, and effective responses to guest requests and operational needs
  • Maintain general knowledge of lodge operations, weather conditions, activities, and guest services

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance systems
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, plumbing, mechanical, and building systems

international guests staying five nights or more.

The Lodge Manager assumes full responsibility for lodge operations, ensuring they are safe, guest-focused, and
financially efficient. This role requires a minimum two-year commitment and is suited to a candidate who thrives in
a remote environment, can adapt to seasonal operational shifts, and leads by example in a multi-department
setting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management – Take a lead on all aspects of team leadership, including recruitment,
    scheduling and performance monitoring. Supervise, mentor, and delegate responsibilities across all lodge
    departments, fostering a positive, professional, and collaborative work environment
  • Guest Experience & Hosting – Actively engage with guests, ensuring exceptional service standards,
    handling complaints, and acting as the primary point of contact during their stay
  • Seasonal Operations Management – Oversee and adapt operations between summer hotel/roadside
    services and winter heliskiing resort operations, ensuring consistency in quality and service delivery
  • Financial Oversight & Administration – Manage lodge accounting, including reservations, billing, payroll
    coordination, expenses, and reconciliations. Ensure all financial reporting is accurate and completed on
    time
  • Inventory & Cost Control – Monitor stock levels across all departments, manage ordering, and ensure
    effective inventory control to maximize profitability and minimize waste
  • Health & Safety Compliance – Ensure all lodge operations meet or exceed WorkSafeBC standards and
    maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and emergency response plans
  • Operations & Logistics – Manage the logistics of operating in a remote environment, including timely
    procurement, supplier coordination, and transportation of goods and equipment
  • Interdepartmental Coordination – Maintain strong communication with Ski Operations, Head Office,
    suppliers, and all lodge departments to ensure seamless operations
  • Reservations & Systems Management – Oversee reservations, PMS/POS systems, reporting, and ensure
    accuracy of guest accounts and operational data
  • Training & Standards – Implement training programs and enforce policies and procedures to maintain high
    operational and service standards
  • Guest Services & Concierge Oversight – Ensure all guest needs, special requests, and expectations are
    anticipated and met at a high level
  • Heliskiing Operations Support (Winter) – Work closely with the Guiding Manager and Head Office to
    support ski operations and ensure an exceptional guest experience aligned with brand standards
  • Incident Response – Thoroughly familiarize yourself with our Incident Response Plan and take an active
    lead in coordinating base response in the event of an emergency
  • Sales & Representation – Act as an ambassador for the business and identify opportunities to promote and
    sell Bell 2 Lodge and Last Frontier Heliskiing experiences
  • Maintain a professional, punctual, and well-presented appearance at all times
  • All other duties as assigned by the General Manager

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years experience in a similar management role, preferably in a remote lodge or resort
    environment
  • Experience in luxury hospitality, or high-end guest service environments an asset
  • Background in a similar lodge or resort setting is preferred
  • Previous experience in a heliskiing or cat skiing operation a strong asset
  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with PMS and POS systems, including troubleshooting front and back-end issues
  • Knowledge of payroll systems (e.g., Push Payroll) is an asset
  • Strong leadership, team management, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, reporting, and cost control
  • Advanced organizational and multitasking abilities with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to balance competing demands and prioritize a large workload effectively
  • A flexible and collaborative approach, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to think clearly and confidently make decisions under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a leadership team
  • Ability to appropriately balance work & social life, particularly in a remote live-in environment
  • Hospitality, Tourism, Business, or Management qualifications are an asset
  • Serving It Right certification required; Food Safe and First Aid certifications are assets
  • Full valid driver’s license required
  • Multiple languages are an asset
  • Passion for outdoor adventures and alpine environments is welcomed!

Working conditions
This is a year-round, live-on-site position based in remote Northern BC. Working rotations are based on a 3- week on, 1-
week off schedule, working 10 hours per day whilst on rotation.

Lodging and all meals are provided whilst on rotation. All staff are required to leave the lodge during their scheduled
time off, and transport between the lodge and Terrace is provided. During the heliskiing season, alternative transport to
Smithers can also be provided, where subsidized accommodation for your scheduled time off is available (winter only).
Please note we are unfortunately not able to accommodate pets.

Last Frontier Heliskiing has been a pioneering force in heliskiing and heli boarding since 1996. We offer a range of heliski tours from two unique lodging experiences in Northern British Columbia. The Ski Guide is responsible for his or her helicopter group within a 3-group ski program. This position involves supporting the Lead Guide to ensure that the ski program flows as planned to ensure a safe, enjoyable skiing experience for the guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe and enjoyable day of heliskiing for Last Frontier Guests.
  • Assist with the lead guides plan and execute the days skiing program for the assigned helicopter.
  • Follow the lead guides run choice at all times, whenever practical.
  • Ensure run list is adhered to as per Last Frontier Heliskiing policy.
  • Load Lunch and water on board helicopter for the day.
  • Attend and participate at all guide meetings.
  • Actively participate with down day activities.
  • Assist with vertical reports and flight time entries.
  • Ensure season profiles and snow safety records are up to date.
  • Prepare weather briefings on a rotation basis.
  • Ensure all assigned tasks are completed.
  • Help brief guests with beacons and helicopters.
  • Assist in ski shop when required.
  • Assist in transporting luggage etc. on transfer days.
  • Adhere to Last Frontier Heliskiing risk management protocols.
  • Adhere to Last Frontier Heliskiing wildlife mitigation policies.
  • Dine with Guests during dinner time.

Skills Required:

  • Applicants must be certified through one of the following associations:
    • Ski / Mountain Guide – Association of Canadian Mountain Guides
    • Ski Guide – Canadian Ski Guide Association
    • Mountain Guide – International Federation of Mountain Guides Association

Full-time, Fixed term contract

Expected start date: December 16, 2023 / Expected end date: April 13, 2024
